The TDG is a dedicated funding mechanism provided by the University Grants Committee (UGC) to support Lingnan University staff in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning. The grant aims to fund projects that adopt innovative approaches to teaching and/or improve the quality of the learning environment at Lingnan.

All full-time academic and administrative staff members at Lingnan University are eligible to apply for the TDG. Each eligible applicant can submit at most two applications at one time. At the same time, the Principal Project Supervisor (PPS) should not have more than three on-going TDG projects for which he/she acts as the PPS at the commencement date of the project under application.

There is no specific theme for this call for proposals. Nevertheless, projects involved in blended learning, curriculum and course design (related to outcomes-based education), and emerging technologies Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) and Virtual Reality (VR) are encouraged.

The budget limit for a TDG project proposal is normally HK$200,000 per project. For project proposals budgeting over HK$200,000, external reviews will be solicited and the results will be announced later, depending on the time needed for the external reviewers to provide comments.

Expenses related to self-financed or non-UGC-funded programmes and/or conference attendance will not be supported.

The Sub-Committee on Teaching and Learning (SCTL) under the Academic Quality Assurance Committee for Undergraduate Programmes (AQAC) is responsible for approving and awarding the TDG. TLC assists SCTL in administering the TDG.

From 2025-28 triennium, staff shall be required to present and/or publish papers and reports relating to their project findings in refereed journals or refereed conferences. Further dissemination of project results in the form of seminars and conference presentations is also required. Non-compliance, such as late submission of the interim/final report or failure to present/publish papers, may result in disqualification from future TDG application rounds.
