Let’s Talk integrates Generative AI into Design Thinking pedagogy to accelerate empathy training development—critical yet challenging in educational contexts. Students will co-design AI-driven chatbots to simulate realistic conversational partners, enabling them to practice perspective-taking, active listening, and compassionate communication within controlled scenarios for the purpose of human-centred problem-solving and social-impact solution design. By AI Coaching ChatGPT and Gemini, among others, students preprocess multimodal data sourced from documentaries, interviews, and podcasts, sharpening their research and digital literacy skills. Workshops across three interdisciplinary courses (GDS1001, GDS4000, and CLA-9032) provide structured environments where students test and evaluate chatbot interactions collaboratively. Ethical considerations, including bias mitigation, privacy protection, and output authenticity, are integrated into the curriculum, ensuring responsible AI practices. Let’s Talk's outcomes offer highly transferable resources, such as methodologies for data preprocessing and prompt engineering, adaptable across diverse disciplines. This initiative aligns closely with Lingnan University's strategic objectives, fostering innovative, interdisciplinary learning experiences and preparing students for socially responsible, globally engaged leadership roles.
